After Dark Films has announced their first four entries for Horrorfest 4 coming January 2010. After Dark Horrorfest® 4 runs for one week in theatres across the United States, from January 29nd through February 5th. The information below has been taken from the press releases for each film.


DREAD is the second film in the Book of Blood franchise. The action follows three college students who set out to produce a documentary about fear, only to find themselves the subjects of an experiment in terror. DiBlasi, a producing partner of Barker’s on such films as Book of Blood and Midnight Meat Train, makes his directorial debut with DREAD, working from his own screenplay. Jackson Rathbone (Twilight Saga and The Last Airbender) stars alongside Shaun Evans (Boy A), Hanne Steen and Laura Donnelly.Clive Barker is a versatile artist and pop culture icon who hardly needs introduction to legions of fans worldwide. An author, director and producer, the English born Barker is renowned for his horror fiction and fantasy writings. The creator of the Hellraiser and Candyman series, Barker is also an acclaimed visual artist and distinguished playwright. After Dark Films CEO Courtney Solomon calls the production “relentlessly disturbing and truly scary,” adding, “We are thrilled to have beaten the competition on this film as we just HAD to have it for Horrorfest!”

The new title joining the 8 Films to Die For! lineup is The Graves, written and directed by Brian Pulido. Pulido, a well known comic book writer and creator of such titles as Lady Death and Evil Ernie, makes his feature directorial debut on the film. The films stars Clare Grant, Jillian Murray, Bill Moseley, Lamb of God singer D. Randall Blythe and Tony Todd. Brian Ronalds and Dean Ronalds of Ronalds Brothers Productions and Francisca Pulido of Mischief Maker Studios produced. Adam Goldfine is the Director of Photography. In The Graves, two inseparable sisters, Megan and Abby Graves, are taking one last wild road trip before Megan has to start a new job. The journey includes a trip through remote Arizona in search of a kitchy roadside attraction. Instead, Megan and Abby happen on Skull City Mine, a weather-beaten, abandoned mine town converted into a self-guided tour. What seems like a fun day in the sun turns into a mind-bending fight for survival against menaces both human and supernatural. “Brian’s background and knowledge of the horror world has served him incredibly well. He has directed a film that audiences are going to find both scary and immensely entertaining. The film marks the fourth title for After Dark’s latest installment of Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For. Pål Øie (Dark Woods) directed from a script he co-wrote with Brio Flint. The film stars one of Norway’s most prominent actors Kristoffer Joner (Next Door and upcoming Pax) who leads a cast including Cecilie Mosli, Anders Danielsen Lie, Bjarte Hjelmeland and Karin Park. Jan Aksel Angeltvedt of Alligator Film produced the film. Hidden is the story of Kai Koss who upon the death of his cruel mother unwillingly returns to the small town he ran away from 19 years ago. He is left in charge of the family home and the dark secrets that come with it. Kai soon finds himself tangled up in a series of murderous events that are beyond anyone’s control and his troubles begin to overwhelm him. He has spent the past two decades trying to forget a tortured past only to find that there are some things that you just can’t run from. “Hidden represents intense psychological suspense at it’s best,“ stated After Dark EVP Stephanie Caleb. “The dark and terrifying atmosphere and intricate storyline weave together to form a film that should keep fans scared and intrigued up until the very end.”

The supernatural mystery is written and directed by Joel Anderson making his feature debut. Talia Zucker, Rosie Traynor, David Pledger and Martin Sharpe star. Georgie Nevile and David Rapsey produced. In Lake Mungo, sixteen-year-old Alice Palmer drowns while swimming in the local dam. When her body is recovered and a verdict of accidental death returned, her grieving family buries her. The family then experiences a series of strange and inexplicable events centered in and around their home. Profoundly unsettled, the Palmers seek the help of psychic and parapsychologist, Ray Kemeny. Ray discovers that Alice led a secret, double life. A series of clues lead the family to Lake Mungo where Alice’s secret past emerges. “Joel has created an eerily crafted, suspense piece that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats and will leave them with a sense of unease for days to come.” stated Solomon. “We’re pleased to bring such an original film to audiences in the US.”
