  1. What a fun review of this epic Western! In the Summer of 1969,I went with my uncle and cousin to see the debut of this film at the Stanley theater in Pittsburgh. I believe this was the uncut version before the fools at Paramount pulled the film, cut it and re-released it. The version I saw at the Stanley theater is the one that used to play on the ABC Sunday Night Movie. Once Opon A Time In The West is one of my all-time favorite films. And Morricone’s score combined with Edda Dell’Orso’s haunting vocals, is pure magic. I love the harmonica and your grandfather’s conductor’s hat! My grandpap worked on the railroad as well as a fireman. He told me many colorful stories about his days as a railroad worker, and his youth, including running with moonshiners in West Virginia. hahahahahahaha Anyway,I love your creative reviews, Goregirl, and always look forward to them!

    • Opps, I meant “Upon” not “Opon”. Too much booze on my organic granola this morning. : )

I have seen this on the big screen myself, although just recently! A perfect film even on my computer screen but EPIC when large and loud! My grandfather was a man of few words, but I am pretty sure he didn’t have any running moonshine stories; he was kind of a conservative guy. I had storybook grandparents that took me to Sam the Record Man and let me buy 45s and let me eat cookies at all hours of the day and have ice-cream floats with pop shoppe pop; they were not however movie goers.

  2. I LOVE YOU, CHARLES BRONSON

Ha! ha! Yeah, this is more of a love letter than a review, I should have signed it all my love XOXOXOXO!

  3. This and 8 1/2 are my favorite films ever made. This one made all the more incredible by the fact that there is barely a narrative. It may have the best opening of any film ever. Warms my heart to see you dousing it with your love.

  4. Can’t beat those Sergio Leone spagetti westerns, the languid hot dessert settings, the cool pacing, and the fantastic music. Great stars involved with all of them and they all acted with thier eyes and facial expressions; sometimes they didn’t even have to say a word – he captured that aspect so well.

  5. The perfect cast!
