Goregirl’s Video Review: Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) VS. Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961)

First off, I wanted to announce that Eisenhower and the Horror Movies will be extended through to the end of January. I didn’t even come close to reviewing everything I watched this month. Too much socializing and shenanigans in December! Next in the queue I’ll have a written review for Mother Joan of the Angels followed by a video review for two Boris Karloff films.
I review Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outer Space and Roger Corman’s Creature from the Haunted Sea. AND I learn how to do more nifty things with my webcam!

It is true, Mother Joan of the Angels just barely qualifies as a horror film. Sure was lovely to look at though. And great performance from the lead actress! I am sure it probably rocked some worlds back in 1961.

Oh wow, Plan 9 is awful… and great, all at once. It’s crappiness really knows no limit, and that sort of makes it lovable like the ugliest dog at the pound. Have you ever seen Glen or Glenda? If you thought Plan 9 was hilarious for taking itself so seriously, you might love Glen or Glenda (if you haven’t seen it already). It’s supposed to be some huge social statement about cross-dressers.

Glen or Glenda is a laugh riot. I think I have seen every Ed Wood film available. The man had zero talent but a ton of heart! You’ve got to give him credit for actually getting his wacky fucking films made never mind managing to get a theatre to show them!
